Final Four revealed in America's Best Card Shop competition
∀ The Final Four have been revealed.
America's Best Card Shop -- a four-month long competition presented by Loupe, which has joined forces with industry leaders such as Topps, the Miami Marlins and Blowout Cards -- nears the final step in selecting a winner as the Final Four were revealed on Wednesday from more than 1,400 candidates.
They are Baseball Card Connection (Effingham, Ill), The Card Vault (Foxborough, Mass.), Honey Hole Collectibles (Escondido, Calif.) and Real Sportscards (Champlin, Minn.) The winner gets a grand-prize package worth more than $50,000 as well as an exclusive Loupe streaming deal.
"We were overwhelmed by the response to Loupe Presents: America’s Best Card Shop," said Loupe founder and CEO Eric Doty. "A vast majority of the submissions came from customers who wanted to nominate their favorite LCS, which is exactly why we started this initiative. It proves that the foundation of the hobby is in community ties and the personal relationships that are forged over sports cards. It was really cool seeing how many collectors made the effort to help out the people who run their local card shop."
..
A look at each shop can be found in the video above and some basics are below as offered up by Loupe.
-- Baseball Card Connection is a family-owned card shop that has been in business for 30 years. It operates out of a 6,000 square foot store in downtown Effingham and has more than 10 million cards in stock.
-- Located across the street from Gillette Stadium where the New England Patriots play, The Card Vault bills itself as "the ultimate sports card experience." The Card Vault is a modern retail shop for collectors to buy, sell, trade and submit cards for grading.
-- Honey Hole Collectibles is a shop that has something for everyone. It boasts a huge inventory of the newest releases, an incredible selection of cards from the '80s and '90s and cases full of graded singles. Honey Hole is located 30 minutes north of San Diego.
-- Located just outside Minneapolis, Real Sportscards has reimagined the traditional sports card store. Their flagship shop in Champlin features a sales floor, a lounge and studios where they break online for more than 10 hours every day.
The judges for this one were Topps Hobby Sales Director Kevin O’Neil, Women of the Hobby co-founder and industry veteran Susan Lulgjuraj, Green Bay Packers running back A.J. Dillon, artist and entrepreneur DJ Skee and, of course, Doty.
Finalists will stream live on Loupe before a community vote to determine the winner, who will be revealed live on-stage at this year's National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlantic City next month.
