∀ With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.
This time? It's a debut ticket of sorts ... and it's right there with last time.

The Category: College football ... with an NFL tie-in
The Game: Texas Tech vs. Central Arkansas, Aug. 30, 2014
The Result: Texas Tech wins 42-35 (read all about it here)
The Attendance: 60,778 (apparently largest crowd for a season-opening game at Jones AT&T Stadium)
The Face: $35
The Cost (for me): Literal pocket change ... less than a stamp.
The Ticket Stud (Key Player): Texas Tech freshman QB Patrick Mahomes ... you might know him.
Others: Davis Webb, DeAndre Washington, Bradley Marquez, Jordan Davis, Reginald Davis III, Kliff Kingsbury
What's Buzz-worthy: The first item in this series was right in this same wheelhouse but I found today's ticket in a second bulk batch and figured it could be an easy Chapter 2 (or Chapter 1.5 ... but that might be confusing). Why? It's here for the same reasons and with the same quirks as last time. Game 1 as noted on the ticket here is a season-opener and that makes this a ticket for the very first game in Patrick Mahomes' college career. (Sweet.) Just like last time, though, he didn't actually play in the game. (Bummer.) He made his on-field debut three weeks later on Sept. 25. Not much else to say that wasn't mentioned last time. (Next time -- and it could be soon -- I'll dip into a different spot on my ticket grab bag and see if we find something interesting.)
Stud or Dud? I could have found worse. First appearance on the sideline means a little bit for a big name, right? I think it's a Stud ... just a dirt-cheap one.
