What's Buzz-worthy: I wasn't all that sold when I saw the ink here but he's still a guy with potential who looked decent in a small stretch last year. So ... it's a wait-and-see kind of box. The rest of it wasn't anything special on the rarity scale but all three guys have been playing well and are reliable names -- and that makes the no-RCs here sting a little less. There were really no issues here other than that small spot on the Story card being from some kind of adhesive ... so it left a spot after I tried to carefully remove it. As I noted in a past one, this auto may not be what you're hoping for when ripping into a slightly higher-end box like this (higher-end in the card volume vs. the price) but it's not like he's a rookie who has come and gone. He actually got called up (and sent back down) earlier this month ... so he's still on the radar. ... I do think this release is worth the look if you're chasing hits and rarities and not worried about the price tag. (I do more than you might.) Over time, the basics from hobby-only releases with guaranteed hits like this will be tougher to find as the sheer volume of cards made won't compare to the standard stuff. If you find this one on the cheaper side of things, it's worth the look as there's solid potential with some luck. This was a standard box on all fronts.
Product Grade: B
Box Grade: B (Soto is a fine find but the ink is one to wait and see)
Fun Grade: B (feel like two packs and an auto would be safer ... or tweak parallels more dramatically)
